THE EXPERIENCE

The LA Music Industry Academy provides aspiring artists the opportunity to learn from the industry's leading professionals in the areas of production, engineering, and management.  Participants will work in Paramount Recording Studios and learn basic, advanced, and expert techniques in the areas of recording and analog/digital audio production. Additionally, participants will learn from leading producers on the methods of songwriting, arranging, and marketing their music.  Furthermore, representatives of LA based management companies will be giving seminars of the business side of the music industry.  The small class size allows individualized instruction and the opportunity to work in premiere studios with state of the art equipment.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a passion for music making.  Interested applicants should submit a one page Statement of Interest which should detail their professional career goals, what they hope to gain from the program, and how this program will benefit them professionally. Applicants will have the option to submit original media including an original song or mix. You will also have to select which session your prefer to attend. Due to the high level of interest in the program, we ask that you select up to three options.  After making your application payment through PayPal, we will contact you in three - five business days to conduct a phone interview. This allows us to make sure your experience is worthwhile and meaningful.  Click the button below to apply now.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

As a participant of the LA Music Industry Summer Academy, you will attend daily classes in the areas of production, recording, and management.  You will work with state of the art equipment at Paramount Recording Studios while learning from industry leaders.  Participants will work with LA based bands and be responsible for mixing and mastering tracks under the supervision of our faculty.  Performers who join the program will also be able to record their own music during their stay at the LA Music Industry Academy.  Furthermore, singer/songwriters will also have the opportunity to share their music with producers.  

SONGWRITING CONTRACT

All participants are required to sign a contract regarding the rights for all materials composed during LAMISA.  This contract ensures every student, as well as LAMISA, is protected and awarded any publishing earned.  Participants typically compose 2-4 songs during the program.  For more details, click here.

LAMISA is a two-weeks length program:

  • July 13th - 26th, 2025

PROGRAM FEE | $4,750

Includes:

  • Access to Paramount Recording Studios

  • Instructional Faculty

  • Cultural Excursions 

  • Housing (If you opt out you will save $425)

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships are available for students who apply early.  An essay consisting of 250 - 500 words is necessary to be considered for a scholarship.  The essay should include information regarding where the applicant envisions themselves in the music industry in the next five years and how the scholarship will help them achieve these goals.  Scholarships are awarded between $500 - $1500. Who can apply to the academy?

Anyone who has interest in the music industry is eligible to apply.  You must be at least 18 years of age. 

How do I apply to the academy?

Click the link below to apply.  You should include a statement of interest and it is optional to send us a recording of your original music of you performing your instrument.

How should I submit my original work or performing?

You should upload your original work or performance to GoogleDrive, DropBox, or another shareable paltform, and send us a downloadable link for us to view. 

When is the application due?

Applications close on April 15th.  You can apply anytime prior to April 15th.  If the application has closed, and you are still interested in attending, please contact us directly.

How do I make payments?

Payments can made electronically or by check.

Which airport should I fly into?

You should fly into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

My band would like to apply, can we do that?

If you would like to apply as a group, then please contact us directly.

How many people are in each program?

Each program will consist of no more than 20.  We prefer to keep the class size small so each participant gets close instruction.
